Sugar Scrubs a Luscious Way to Exfoliate

sugar scrub with Rosemary

I don't know about you but a delicious sugar or salt scrub can just uplift me for the day. I love to make my scrubs with Peppermint, Citrus, Neroli, or Frankincense oils. You could also use different Spruces or just about any other oil that you love the aroma. This is where you get to have a little fun. When I am blending any product I try to use ingredients that have the least amount of processing so if I am making sugar scrubs I use organic cane sugar. I buy it in bulk at Costco and it works great. You can use whatever version of ingredients you like best or even just have on hand. This recipe will make up a couple jars of scrub.

Sugar Scrub
3 ounces of oil of your choice (avocado, jojoba, coconut is fine)
8 ounces of sugar
3-12 drops of essential oil

In mixing bowl pour in sugar. In measuring cup pour in your oil and then add the number of essential oil drops. I use 3-4 drops for peppermint and 6-12 for citrus. This is where adding a few drops to the carrier oil and smelling it can be helpful to decide if you need more essential oil. Then mix ingredients in mixing bowl with a spoon, fork or spatula. Then scoop into your jars. Now if using Peppermint essential oil a little goes a long way and be careful not to get it into eyes because it will burn.

You can also make up your scrubs using Salt instead of Sugar. I like sugar, sugar junkie anyone ;) but salts can be very good for the skin as well. So definitely play and try new things!
